Remembering Aisha

Aisha was 6 and half when she gained her angel wings on November 24th, 2016. She was first diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) in March of 2015. Aisha received chemotherapy and battled valiantly after receiving this devastating diagnosis, and just 6 months later beat cancer.

After 10 months in remission Aisha’s cancer relapsed in June of 2016. She commenced a higher dose of chemotherapy and radiation and went on to beat cancer once more. Aisha underwent a lifesaving bone marrow transplant in October of 2016 which was successful. 40 days post-transplant complications began to arise and Aisha was left with a failing respiratory system and internal bleeding. Just 43 days later, Aisha passed away.

The Karunakaran family created an everyday hero page, initially set up in lieu of flowers for the funeral.  To their amazement through generous donations in just a few short days they were able to raise $66,000 and to date over $110,000. They have collaborated with The Children’s Hospital at Westmead in Sydney, Australia that donated funds will be directed toward research for Paedeatric AML and bone marrow transplantation.

Nirosha Karunakaran, Aisha’s mother believes strongly thatJordana Fiorini and Aisha are working together in heaven to drive these incredible research initiatives. Two Rainbow Warriors are standing strong side by side up above and inspiring kindness, so that no child or family must know the devastation of childhood terminal illness.

The bracelet was inspired by the Jacaranda which was a favourite of Aisha's.  Created with Amethyst for protection and Citrine for imagination, these glistening Wish Bracelets are a constant reminder that an angel is never too far away.

Through the sales of the Jacaranda Wish Bracelet Love & Above kindly donates 50% of net-proceeds to Aisha's everydayhero fund at The Children's Hospital at Westmead, specifically to AML research.
